in Jersey.

A Crown Dependency with professional registration closely linked to UK regulators. Eligible UK registrants still need Jersey registration and local employment and housing checks.

UK-register-linked

UK-register-linked local registration

Keep GMC registration and a current licence to practise, and obtain Jersey Care Commission registration before any permanent, temporary or locum work. GPs additionally need the Jersey Performers List, UK GP Register entry and local induction. Confirm specialist credentials and job requirements with the employer.

Other professions

Nurses and midwives need both NMC and Jersey Care Commission registration. The Commission also registers ambulance paramedics and provides dental-professional guidance. Most covered health-professional categories depend on an appropriate UK register; pharmacy has a separate Chief Pharmacist route. Do not extrapolate this to veterinarians.

Qualification recognition ≠ permission to practise
Automatic or direct recognition describes a particular qualification procedure. Registration, language, scope, supervision, employment and immigration requirements can still apply. A UK licence or job title alone does not settle the route.

Source-led overview checked 28 October 2026. Use the exact award, date and profession when checking the regulator’s rules.

Four checks before you commit

  1. Match your exact qualification, award date and professional register to the local route.
  2. Confirm language, supervision, specialty recognition and any assessment requirements.
  3. Verify the role, employer, training status and written offer.
  4. Check work rights, housing and the household budget separately.
Look beyond the headline
British and Irish citizens do not need a Jersey work permit, but local residential/employment status can still restrict work and housing. Other nationalities should check the current work-permit policy.

Start with your profession

Each card separates a mapped official source from an authority lookup. A medical-registration route must not be applied to another profession.
