Recognition / streamlined routes
UK and Irish graduate / profession-specific pathways
Approved UK or Irish medical degrees and qualifying internships can support the Competent Authority route. A supervised job offer, fitness requirements and document verification remain necessary. GPs and specialists must check vocational recognition separately.
Other professions
Each profession has its own council and qualification criteria. UK registration alone does not establish eligibility. Check scope, recent practice and any assessment requirements directly.
Automatic or direct recognition describes a particular qualification procedure. Registration, language, scope, supervision, employment and immigration requirements can still apply. A UK licence or job title alone does not settle the route.

- Check whether your route requires a suitable offer and approved supervision.

- Plan housing, family needs and the cash required before first pay.
Registration prospects and job prospects are different questions. Check the current demand for your profession, specialty and preferred location.

Each card separates a mapped official source from an authority lookup. A medical-registration route must not be applied to another profession.

The Paramedic Council considers overseas paramedic qualifications case by case against its standards. Evidence of studies, recent experience, English, competence and fitness matters; an assessment may be required. Confirm registration and a current practising certificate before practice.

Investigate the Pharmacy Council’s Comparable Pathway using the current eligibility rules. CAOP was removed before registration application from 10 September 2026, but other current qualification, registration, good-standing and practice conditions remain. Supervised practice and law-and-ethics requirements can still apply; proposed broader eligibility must not be assumed available.
